Here is what the prophets say.
Should you teach your kids Temple Truth? The prophets know
You love the Temple, you love the Lord, and you love your children.
These three truths can cause you to wonder how much is appropriate to share with your children about the Temple.
Here is some counsel you can trust, straight from the prophets.

Develop children’s love of the Temple while they are young
“Because of its sacredness we are sometimes reluctant to say anything about the temple to our children and grandchildren. As a consequence, many do not develop a real desire to go to the temple, or when they go there, they do so without much background to prepare them for the obligations and covenants they enter into. ”

Guideline #1
“Because we love the Lord, we always should speak about His holy house with reverence. We should not disclose or describe the special symbols associated with the covenants we receive in sacred temple ceremonies. Neither should we discuss the holy information that we specifically promise in the temple not to reveal.”

Guideline #2
The temple is the house of the Lord. Everything in the temple points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. We may discuss the basic purposes of and the doctrine and principles associated with temple ordinances and covenants.

We can and should share Temple Truth with Children
“Let us share with our children the spiritual feelings we have in the temple. And let us teach them more earnestly and more comfortably the things we can appropriately say about the purposes of the house of the Lord.“

You can prepare your children for the Temple right now
“I believe a proper understanding or background [about the temple] will immeasurably help prepare our youth for the temple . . . [and] will foster within them a desire to seek their priesthood blessings just as Abraham sought his.”

A great opportunity
“We go to great lengths preparing our children for many exciting “firsts” in life—starting school, introducing a new sibling into the family, getting ready to be baptized, and many more milestone events. But there is a great opportunity . . . to prepare our children for their first temple experience.”

You are your child’s best teacher of truth
“Temple preparation is most effective in our homes.”

As we speak of the Temple with reverence our children will feel greater reverence for the Temple.
“Remember that that which cometh from above is sacred, and must be spoken with care, and by constraint of the Spirit.”

We can speak of many temple topics. The Spirit will guide us as we do.
“As we strive to walk in the meekness of the Lord’s Spirit, we will be blessed to understand and achieve in our homes the necessary balance between what is and what is not appropriate to discuss about sacred temple ordinances and covenants.”
